本科著重「校內專業訓練」以及「校外實習」兩大部份，校內則為加強配鏡、驗光及專業能力培養，如鏡片加工的專業能力、眼睛護理保健的專業能力、屈光檢查（驗光）的專業能力以及具視機能檢查及訓練的專業能力，目標在於訓練出兼具醫護背景知識及驗光配鏡技能之專才，期望能對國內視光專業技術及全民視力保健略盡心力。
